About OpsForTrades
OpsForTrades exists to help commercial contractors pick the right mix of software tools for their crews, their office, and their numbers.
Most contractors didn’t start their business because they love software. They started it to build, repair, and maintain real projects in the real world. But as the company grows, the admin and chaos grow with it—paper timecards, messy spreadsheets, disconnected apps, and constant rework.
This site is here to cut through that noise.
What OpsForTrades Does
OpsForTrades focuses on the operations side of commercial trades, especially:
- Time tracking for field crews
- Scheduling and job details
- Payroll and basic HR
- Job costing and accounting
- Project management and documentation
- CRM and pipeline tracking
Instead of pushing one “magic” platform, we look at how tools actually work together in the field and in the office. The goal is simple: fewer surprises, fewer manual fixes, and clearer numbers on every job.
Who This Site Is For
OpsForTrades is built for owners and ops leaders at growing commercial trade companies, especially:
- Commercial roofing contractors
- Commercial paving and parking lot contractors
- Commercial HVAC and mechanical companies
- Concrete and masonry contractors
If you’re somewhere between 10 and 100 people, you probably feel the pain the most. You’re big enough that mistakes hurt, but not so big that you have a full IT department cleaning everything up.
Who’s Behind OpsForTrades
OpsForTrades is run by Koda August, who spends his time helping commercial contractors grow by tightening up their lead generation, sales, and operations.
After years working closely with commercial roofers and other trades, one pattern kept showing up: the wrong tools, glued together badly, creating constant friction between the field and the office. Crews were frustrated. Office staff were buried. Owners couldn’t get a clean picture of job performance.
OpsForTrades is the guide Koda wished existed—one place where contractors can see clear, practical recommendations on how to set up their ops, payroll, and HR stack without becoming “software people.”
How to Use This Site
- Start on the Stacks by Trade page and open the stack that matches your trade.
- Compare tools using the Tool Reviews and comparison guides.
- Use the Playbooks to roll new tools out to your crews without chaos.
You don’t need more apps. You need the right stack, working together, so your crews, office, and numbers all tell the same story.
OpsForTrades is here to help you build that.
